Buying affordable eyeglass frames wholesale is different from shopping for a cheap pair of prescription glasses. A wholesale quote usually covers frames, not prescription lenses, glazing or retail fitting. For an optical retailer, distributor or private-label brand, the useful question is not simply “Which frame is cheapest?” It is “Which specified frame can we buy, sell and reorder at a cost that works for our business?”

This guide focuses on optical frames purchased for resale or branding. It offers a comparison method, not a market price list or a claim that one material, country or supplier is always cheapest.

Define what “affordable” means for your order

Begin with your intended customer, retail position and target landed cost. Then specify the frame you need: shape, dimensions, material, construction, colors and quantity. A low price for a different frame does not answer your brief.

Separate the buying routes before comparing prices. The table below helps you frame the request; it does not rank quality or promise that one route costs less.

What you needRoute to discussBudget question to resolve
An existing frame without design changesWholesale existing stylesIs your model/color mix available as finished stock, or does it require a new batch?
An existing style with your brandPrivate labelWhat do the logo, packaging or color requests add to the price and minimum quantity?
A design or specification the current range cannot meetOEM / ODM developmentWhich sampling, design or tooling costs apply, and how much must you order?

A catalog model is not necessarily finished stock. Private label describes the branding request, not whether the frames already exist. Confirm the production status separately, using the stock-versus-made-to-order guide above when comparing the replies.

Start with the changes you need for your market. Ask for separately priced alternatives if a logo, packaging choice or new construction puts the quote above budget. This keeps the trade-off visible instead of accepting an unspecified cheaper frame.

Where to buy wholesale frames

A stock wholesaler or distributor can be a useful route when you need a particular existing collection or an established account program. A manufacturer is a route to discuss current models, branding or development directly. A marketplace can help you find candidates, but its listing price and supplier description are only the start of verification.

The choice is about the offer, not a label. Ask each prospective supplier who supplies the actual model, whether it is in stock or made to order, what services are included and how a reorder would work. Our guide to eyeglass wholesalers compares different purchasing models; the guide to finding an eyewear manufacturer in China covers supplier screening.

Do not assume factory-direct automatically means the lowest delivered cost. A local distributor may include services a factory quote does not, while a factory may offer a specification or branding route unavailable from stock. Compare the complete offers.

Check the frame before committing to volume

Request a sample of the exact model, size, color and construction under consideration. If a production sample will differ from the catalogue sample, identify the differences in writing.

Examine alignment, hinge movement, edges, finish, nose-pad attachment where fitted, and whether the stated dimensions match the sample. If you will glaze the frame, ask your optical lab to assess the sample for the intended lens and fitting process. A photograph cannot replace that review.

Agree what counts as an acceptable sample and what changes require reapproval. For a detailed, non-laboratory screening method, use our low-cost frame sample checklist. Inspection of one sample does not prove every production unit will match it; discuss the order’s inspection scope separately.

Compare quotations on the same basis

Send the same brief to every supplier. Include model or reference images, material requirements, sizes, quantities by model and color, branding, packaging, destination and requested delivery terms. Ask suppliers to state assumptions and alternatives instead of silently substituting a different construction.

Check whether the unit price includes samples, tooling, logos, cases, packing and any inspection or testing. Confirm the minimum for each model and color. A headline MOQ is not enough to price a mixed assortment. Our eyewear MOQ guide explains how to check the breakdown, and our quotation checklist helps you compare the replies.

For qualifying Titanium Frames styles and projects, MOQ starts at 100 pairs per model and color. The final minimum depends on the selected frame, material and customization. Ask for a quote for your actual assortment rather than treating that starting point as a universal offer.

Calculate the cost to receive usable frames

The unit price is only one part of an import budget. Add charges that apply to your order but are not already included: branding, packing, samples or development where relevant, freight, insurance, import charges and onward delivery. Keep one-time costs visible rather than hiding them inside the unit price.

The ICC’s Incoterms® guidance explains why the chosen rule and named place matter to cost and risk responsibilities. Confirm the actual delivery scope with the seller and logistics provider. Do not add a charge twice, and do not assume tax treatment or freight rates without a market-specific quote. Our landed-cost guide sets out a comparison worksheet.

Shipping method also affects cost and timing. See express, air freight and sea freight for frame orders when preparing the logistics brief.

Use a small order to test the buying process

Where the selected style and supplier terms allow it, a trial order can help you evaluate the delivered frames and ordering process before committing to a larger assortment. Confirm the trial quantity, exact model and color split, approved sample, packing and who handles any issues. Do not assume trial-order pricing, stock availability or repeat-order conditions will remain unchanged.

Keep the approved specification and photos with the purchase record. For a reorder, refer to that version and ask which materials, components or conditions have changed. “Same as last time” is not a complete specification.

A short request for pricing

Send a frame photo, product link or model number, your preferred material and size, quantities by color, destination and target price if you have one. State whether you want existing styles, private label or a new design. You do not need a finished technical drawing to ask whether an existing frame could meet your brief.

Explore our frame categories and private-label or OEM options. To discuss available models and an actual quotation, contact Titanium Frames.

Frequently asked questions

Are cheap glasses and wholesale eyeglass frames the same product?

No. A consumer offer for prescription glasses may include lenses and other retail services. A frame-only wholesale quote must be compared against other frame offers with the same product and delivery scope.

Is the cheapest material the best choice for a budget collection?

There is no material-only answer. Compare the specified frame construction, target market, sample, quantity and total quoted scope. A change of material may change the product, not just its price.

Can I request wholesale pricing before finalizing my design?

Yes. Send a reference image, desired quantity, destination and requirements you already know. Ask the supplier to identify which details are still needed for a firm quotation.
