How to Apply Adhesive Nose Pads to Glasses

Learn how to apply adhesive nose pads to glasses, from surface preparation and backing removal to placement, pressing and when to ask for help.

Adhesive nose-pad application sequence: prepare and dry, peel without touching adhesive, place as directed, and follow pressing and post-application directions; pause for support if unclear.

Use the applicable product and eyewear directions for preparation, placement, pressing and post-application limits.

Apply adhesive nose pads by preparing and drying the permitted contact area, peeling the backing without touching the adhesive, placing the pads as directed, then following the product’s pressing and post-application instructions.

Before starting, check that the pad’s directions cover your intended use and the surface where it will attach. Its preparation and application requirements must also agree with the care instructions for your frame, finish, lenses, coatings and attachments. If those instructions are missing or conflict, ask the dispensing retailer or relevant product support for clarification or a compatible documented option.

This guide covers adding a stick-on accessory. Replacing a screw-in or push-in pad and repairing a damaged bridge require different methods. Our guide to eyeglass nose pad types explains the attachment differences.

Prepare the permitted contact surface

Prepare the application area using the method allowed by both the accessory directions and the care instructions for the glasses. Let that area dry completely before applying the pad. EBJDE’s adhesive-pad instructions describe preparation and complete drying before placement.

If the accessory calls for preparation that your eyewear care instructions prohibit, pause here. Do not substitute another cleaner and assume it provides the preparation the accessory requires. Resolve the conflict before exposing the adhesive.

Peel the backing and position the pad

Peel the backing from the adhesive pad, keeping your fingers off the adhesive surface. SIGONNA’s guide for its own nose pads includes these handling steps; follow the directions supplied for the product you are applying.

Place the pad at the frame’s nose-contact location in the orientation specified by that product, before pressing it into place. Eyebuydirect’s adhesive-pad guidance describes placing the exposed adhesive against the frame where it contacts the nose.

If the intended location or orientation is unclear, pause and ask product support. Do not work out the position by repeatedly sticking and lifting the pad.

Press and follow the product’s post-application limits

Press the pad as its application directions specify. Follow any stated instructions about waiting or use after application. EBJDE’s guide refers readers to the pad manufacturer’s pressure and curing instructions; use the requirements for your identified accessory rather than a pressing time or waiting period from another product’s guide.

If the directions leave pressing or the next step unclear, ask product support before continuing. Finish at the endpoint those directions describe.

Stop if placement or attachment remains a concern

Stop if you notice damage, remain unsure about placement or have a concern about the attachment. Do not try to solve it with more force, extra glue, resticking or changes to the frame hardware.

Take the glasses and the accessory packaging and directions to the retailer that dispensed your glasses. Explain where you stopped and what concerns you. For an unclear accessory instruction, contact the relevant product support team. This gives them the actual pair and product information needed to address your question.
